Auto Injury Treatment

First responders aiding someone in an auto accident

Whether a low-impact or high-impact collision, a car accident can cause a broad range of injuries. When a car is not moving and is struck from behind, the force can cause whiplash. The impact causes the head and neck to hyper-extend backward and then, into a hyper-flexed position. This causes damage to the soft tissues in the cervical vertebrae, muscles, and ligaments. While seat belts are intended to prevent serious injuries in car accidents, these protective devices can also cause injury. They can result in damage to the lower back or spinal nerves.

Common back injuries in car accidents include thoracic spine sprains, lumbar spine sprains, and herniated discs. In a sprain, there’s actual damage to the ligaments. A herniated disc occurs when the disc is displaced and places pressure on the spinal cord or surrounding nerves. If the sciatic nerve is compressed, it can result in sciatica which is characterized by pain that radiates from the back to the buttocks and down the leg. Concussion symptoms may include dizziness and headaches.

Auto Injury Care at Health 4 Life Chiropractic

Health 4 Life Chiropractic is your injury care chiropractor who takes a holistic and multi-faceted approach to healing from car accident injuries. Patient treatment plans may include manual spinal adjustments, spinal decompression therapy, laser therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and spinal traction. Each therapeutic treatment modality is designed to work together to enhance recovery.

Through gentle spinal manipulations, our chiropractors properly realign the spinal and eliminate pressure on compressed nerves. Spinal decompression therapy takes place on a specialized traction table with rollers controlled by a computerized device. This therapy gently stretches the spine to increase space between the spinal discs.
