Ramp up Your Health by Moving More

Woman running outsideAs movement is life, there’s no better way to boost your well-being than exercising. Now that the temps have climbed and the sunshine is abundant, there are plenty of ways to fit in fitness for free!

Dr. Mat shares some of his favorite ways to move more in Murfreesboro and the surrounding area.

Hit the Local Trails

Spring is here, and it’s time to take advantage of the beautiful weather and get active. One way to do that is by hitting the local trails. The Greenway Trailhead, Barfield Wilderness Trail Loop, and Cane Ridge Mountain Bike Trailhead are just a few options available.

Walk Your Way to Better Health

Want to keep things simple? Lace up your walking shoes. Something as simple as a 20-minute walk can have incredible benefits for your health, including a decrease in sick days, an immune system boost, and a reduction in stress. Perhaps best of all, walking is easy, it’s free, and it’s a low-impact way to step into better health.

Work out at Home for Less

Prefer to exercise indoors, but don’t want to invest in a pricey gym membership? There are simple bodyweight circuits that you can do at home. A circuit focusing on the lower body can include bodyweight squats, squat jumps, walking lunges, glute bridges, and calf raises.

Push-ups, front planks, side planks, and bird dogs can be added to work on the upper body. For a more challenging workout, you can do high-intensity interval training (HIIT) by running or walking for 60 seconds, then resting for 60 seconds, and repeating the process.

Get Adjusted

Of course, one of the best ways to help your body move more efficiently is with chiropractic care. Regular care can keep your body tuned up, so you can get the exercise your body needs to enjoy maximum health.

Take That First Step Today

Exercise doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. A simple 20-minute walk or a quick bodyweight circuit can make a massive difference in your health. You can even incorporate exercises into daily activities, such as doing squats during commercial breaks while watching TV.

So, grab your family and pets and hit the trails, or create a workout routine that works for you, and enjoy the benefits of being active!
